I’ve never been much of a bag girl before, to be honest I’ve always been more of a shoe fan but as it turns out a girl really does need more than one bag, as I recently discovered after a flurry of wedding invites.
I used to have just one black clutch bag that served me well on many occasions but when you’re wearing a pastel dress accessorising with black shoes and bag (and jewellery?) just isn’t going to cut it.
Luckily, I have a bag-a-holic for a friend so we went shopping one sunny Saturday afternoon in search of the perfect bag to go with my pastel pink dress. In fact, I ended up coming back with five!
Bag shopping is a little like shoe shopping, it can be strangely addictive, and I now have a range of funky and classic bags so no matter where I’m going – whether it’s a dinner date or a wedding, I now have something for all occasions.
For my wedding outfit I bought a gorgeous pale pink clutch with silver clasp from very.co.uk which rather handily has a strap I can fix around my wrist so I don’t end up leaving it at the bar.
As I’ve said I got a little over enthusiastic when I was shopping and I ended up coming back with four bags, aside from the pale pink clutch.
I also now own a silver clutch (because silver is the new black and it will go with most outfits), a black snakeskin style patent clutch (to add a funky twist), a tiny coral across-the-body style bag with a bow clasp, which is very pretty and will fit in nicely with my assortment of floral tops and dresses for this summer. Last but not least I found a gorgeous brown leather tote bag for work – which is perfect for the office and everyday wear. Because it’s a little bigger I can fit in all of my everyday stuff too, I love spacious handbags that you can throw everything into and go.
So is bag shopping as good as shoe shopping? Well, not quite, but at least I can be sure of one thing – at least I’ll already own a pair of shoes to match.
